In large commercial application the DC electricity flows into the solar inverter, or group of solar inverters, and then flows out as AC electricity and into storage units for later use. The high-tech equipment inside the inverter must be protected from harsh weather from snow to rain, to extreme cold and heat, as well as humidity, so the inverters are covered in a hard, protective shell. Different Types of Solar Inverters

Several types of wholesale solar inverters are used in a solar power system. String solar inverters are used in commercial and industrial applications where power demands are greatest. This technology involves stringing specialized solar inverters together in a series. This allows the system to work together to collect, process, and direct power. Hybrid inverters are a newer generation of solar inverters that combines the inversion of DC electricity into AC electricity as well as battery storage in one unit. Initially, these inverters were very expensive, but as demand for this dual capacity has increased, prices have dropped.

These solar inverters integrate with batteries for storage capability. Micro solar inverters are small inverters that attach directly to a small bank of solar panels. These are common for lighted street signs or traffic lights.
